Scared myself on the way to work this morning. Ended up about 25 degrees slideways at highway speed in my Subaru. A little counter steer and more throttle saved me without any scary oscillations. When in doubt, power out indeed.

I have some snows on mine and am always afraid it's going to bite when I least expect it. Though most of the snow we've had here has not been nicely packed, it's been heavy slush or powder and ice.
Glad you're ok!

This whole post reminded my of the formula for the last lines of a Troy Queef column .

Snow tyres are great aren't they? After a few sketchy highway trips this winter I feel as though they have saved me/my family more then once.

Yep! If my jetta gets a bit loose I give it some gas to stop a spin and straighten out. When you see the people in FWD and AWD sedans and whatnot spun out in a ditch in light snow? They lifted.

Wat is that? I can appreciate the time/effort went into making it... But why? It makes my head hurt more then anything else.

For sure! This was the first year I have had them and I love them. Unfortunately I got mine from a friend who had got them used a year before. They still have good tread but the original owners did not take care of them. They wore unevenly. I am using them more as motivation to buy my own set for the coming year.

It's a running gag at SniffPetrol, perhaps too British for most. Every column from a given fictional columnist is the same, just mad-libbed for a new car and using different words. Every. Single. Column. That one is titled "pulls like a cat on ketamine", a previous one was "grips like a gluey gorilla", etc. etc. A "Troy Queef" article is that exact same kind of adjective diarrhea every time, and always ends with blather about coming off the gas, "the back end coming out" paraphrased as needed and "I simply catch it with a dab of oppo and I'm away. The (INSERT CAR HERE) is a bitch. And I spanked it."
